ACT Policing is marking National Missing Persons Week (3-9 August 2026) with a community awareness campaign designed to honour missing persons, support their families and encourage the community to come forward with information that may assist ongoing investigations.
This year's ACT campaign, Still Missing, Still Loved, shines a spotlight on three ACT long-term missing teenagers:
- Megan Mulquiney
- Amelia Hausia
- Elizabeth Herfort
At the heart of the campaign is a series of portraits painted by local Canberra artist Harriet Mitchell. The portraits depict the young women as they appeared when they went missing and serve as a reminder that, despite the passage of time, they remain deeply loved and remembered by their families and friends.
The portraits will be displayed at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre throughout National Missing Persons Week, providing the community with an opportunity to learn more about the three young women and the circumstances surrounding their disappearances. We encourage members of the public to visit the Tuggeranong Arts Centre to view the portraits in person.
ACT Policing's Long-Term Missing Persons (LTMP) Coordination Team continues to review and investigate unresolved missing persons cases, working closely with families and partner agencies to pursue opportunities that may help provide answers.
While years and even decades may have passed since these young women disappeared, information from the community remains vital. A detail that may seem insignificant could assist investigators in building a clearer picture of what happened.
Throughout National Missing Persons Week, ACT Policing will share the stories of Megan, Amelia and Elizabeth across its website, social media channels and community engagement activities to help keep their cases visible within the Canberra community.
