Youth Liaison Officers aim to break down barriers between police and young people so that police become recognised as a trusted and valuable part of their community.
What we do:
- Build close working relationships between ACT Policing and youth support services in the ACT, including government and non-government organisations.
- Refer young people to support services or agencies.
- Identify trends and issues amongst young people in the community and advise relevant partners in an attempt to increase appropriate community involvement and supports, and divert young people from the criminal justice system.
- Attend and participate in programs and activities coordinated by various youth centres and support services.
