What would they think?

What would they think

Alcohol-related crime remains an ongoing priority for ACT Policing, as it continues to place an unnecessary financial, social and health burden on the community.

The What Would They Think? campaign has been developed so ACT Policing can actively educate and engage with the Canberra community throughout the year.

We want all Canberrans to enjoy themselves, and to do so by partying safely, drinking responsibly, staying in control of their behaviour and looking out for their mates.

The What Would They Think? campaign is about getting people to ask themselves before heading out for a drink or celebrating at home, what would they think, if you took things too far, ‘they’ being your child, boss, grandma or friend.

If you take things too far, you could injure yourself or someone else, lose your licence or even end up in court.

Throughout the year we want people to ask themselves:

  • What would your grandmother think if she needed to take you to court because you took things too far?
  • What will you say to your child when they ask why you can’t drive them to school because you lost your licence?
  • How would you explain to your boss that you can’t attend work because you got injured in a fight last night?

ACT Policing has a visible presence around Canberra entertainment precincts throughout the year, routinely patrolling licensed premises to identify any problem areas or people.

Police don’t want to spoil the fun and definitely don’t want to arrest people. Police will issue Criminal Infringement Notices in response to anti-social or illegal behaviour.

All Canberrans, and those who visit our city, have a role in ensuring our homes, venues and roads are safe for everyone.

Think before you drink.
